Knotting
In this session, we will learn about the 3 basic knots used to build a raft (Clove Hitch, Square lashing and Figure of eight lashing). Before we move on, let us first look at the basic terms of knotting, this will help you better understand the instructions.
Basic Terms
Running end, also known as working end, is the part of the rope you used to tie the knot. The rest of the rope is the Standing Part.
Take a turn - wrap the rope around a pole make it running in the same direction.
Roundturn - wrap the rope completely around a pole bring the running end back along the standing part of the rope.
